No Geeks!
Mar 2nd
Here’s a nice concept. Come out with a line of consumer electronics that are ridiculously simple to install and use. No Geek Required products include a wireless router that simply installs in one minute, and a video to DVD dubbing system that’s ready to go in no time. Instant productivity, no heavy lifting, easier for the store and for you. I guess that’s why you’ll soon see their product line in places like Target and WalMart. For a little company just starting out, that’s a big deal.

Is Your Date A Dud?
Feb 14th
The question- is your date a dud? Well, now, there’s an app for that! DateCheck, with the slogan “Lookup before you hookup,” takes the name of your date and a little other info and instantly runs a background check. We gave it a try during CES with a demo from the company behind it. Criminal history? It’ll tell you with its “Sleaze Factor” rating. Taxes he pays on his house? It’ll tell you. Number of bathrooms in his house? It can tell you. Is he already married? Yep, in fact it’ll tell you the name of the other person in the house. A free app, with free info, from the folks at Intelius. They’ve been allowing people to peer into our public records for years. So, of course, if you want to find out even more about your date the app will offer even more in-depth info for a fee.

Motorola BACKFLIP
Feb 7th
Motorola has a hit with the DROID. At CES they introduced the BACKFLIP. That screen you’re looking at does NOT close like a cover over the keyboard. Instead it flips back. So, when closed, one side of your phone is a keyboard and the other side is a touchscreen with a soft keyboard available. Pretty clever. Also, when opened, the screen is above the keyboard BUT on the back of the screen is a touchpad! Drag your finger behind the screen to make things happen on it.
3D At CES
Jan 7th
This is what you see all over CES. People wearing 3D shutter glasses, like these folks at Panasonic, staring at something on a screen that you just can’t appreciate, until you put on your 3D glasses.

Nexus One At CES
David Conway, the Senior Product Manager for Android talks about the Nexus One. We caught up with him at one of the ballroom events held during the Consumer Electronics Show
Lenovo Hybrid Laptop

Lenovo
What a great idea! It’s a laptop computer in which the screen portion comes out and becomes a tablet computer. It should be available by May and Lenovo is trying to keep the price of the IdeaPad U1 well below $1,000
OLED See-Thru Display

OLED See Thru Display
What an amazing example of OLED and how thin it can be. With no back on this computer display, you can look right through. Samsung will be using it. I can see it as a vivid heads-up display.
Panasonic At CES
Jan 6th
I’m sitting in press conference. End to end 3D coming from Panasonic. Just saw a twin lens pro camcorder, they’ll have editing, and 3D HDTVs. They played a role with Avatar and producer Jon Landau just spoke. Relationship between Panasonic and DirecTV to deliver content. Providers will include CBS and the MLB All Star game will be broadcast in 3D! Historic first transmission tomorrow of 3D over DirecTV. Set top box can receive 3D and act as DVR. As expected, it’s 3D’s year at CES.
