No Geeks!
Mar 2nd
Here’s a nice concept. Come out with a line of consumer electronics that are ridiculously simple to install and use. No Geek Required products include a wireless router that simply installs in one minute, and a video to DVD dubbing system that’s ready to go in no time. Instant productivity, no heavy lifting, easier for the store and for you. I guess that’s why you’ll soon see their product line in places like Target and WalMart. For a little company just starting out, that’s a big deal.

Is Your Date A Dud?
Feb 14th
The question- is your date a dud? Well, now, there’s an app for that! DateCheck, with the slogan “Lookup before you hookup,” takes the name of your date and a little other info and instantly runs a background check. We gave it a try during CES with a demo from the company behind it. Criminal history? It’ll tell you with its “Sleaze Factor” rating. Taxes he pays on his house? It’ll tell you. Number of bathrooms in his house? It can tell you. Is he already married? Yep, in fact it’ll tell you the name of the other person in the house. A free app, with free info, from the folks at Intelius. They’ve been allowing people to peer into our public records for years. So, of course, if you want to find out even more about your date the app will offer even more in-depth info for a fee.

Motorola BACKFLIP
Feb 7th
Motorola has a hit with the DROID. At CES they introduced the BACKFLIP. That screen you’re looking at does NOT close like a cover over the keyboard. Instead it flips back. So, when closed, one side of your phone is a keyboard and the other side is a touchscreen with a soft keyboard available. Pretty clever. Also, when opened, the screen is above the keyboard BUT on the back of the screen is a touchpad! Drag your finger behind the screen to make things happen on it.

OLED See-Thru Display

OLED See Thru Display
What an amazing example of OLED and how thin it can be. With no back on this computer display, you can look right through. Samsung will be using it. I can see it as a vivid heads-up display.
LG
Jan 6th
LG is traditonally the first press conference of the Consumer Electronics show. Products introduced included TVs with wireless connectivity and we were treated to a video call on a TV with Skype built in. More broadband TV services and more LED TVs. TrueMotion 480hz. 3D TVs and a 3D projector. 15 inch OLED TV. Of course, Mobile DTV in many forms (pictured). Finally, a super slim TV that’ll blow you away! LCD…only 6.9mm!
